against uniforms by Kristin, AL

i dont know about you, but when i was growing up people were always telling me to be myself... even if that means being different. How do you do that when you go to school looking EXACTLY like everyone else?? Also, firsts impressions mean alot. You cant make a very big impact on someone if you look just like them. Oh yeah and by the way thanks to all the rest of you who are against uniforms. I am doing an essay on this topic and you helped me out alot!! Submitted by Kristin

I think that school uniforms are not as bad as they seem to be. One thing is that girls probly think that it is a total drag because not many girls get made fun of becuase of there cloths becuase cloths for girls varry but boys usually all wear the same thing and they are very self consiouse about it. So it shows that no one is higher on the social latter than any one else. School uniforms are not always uncomforadable and most of the time you have a choice of the kinds you want to wear so that they can fit your "style" to any extent. Another thing is that as I read the responses I have heard alot of "school unifors suck" but no defence for their answer so it can be assumed that they have no reason to dislike them but are simply saying what every one else says.

Uniforms remove the external labeling that brand names give to some children and serve to equalize all students. This provides an equal ground for students to find more productive outlets for expressions of individualism such as wit, intelligence, and creativity. They also simplify the selection of clothing, bring modesty to the school, reduce behaviour problems, bring school unity, raise the self image and neatness of the school and are less expensive.
