Hi My name is Anna and I am 14. I go to a private school so i already get advanced work and extremely hard work. Teachers give way too much homework at my school in the 8th grade. Almost every parent has called in complaining and they state they will fix the problem, but the year is comming to a close now and it has gotton much worse. On the days my backpack has been very heavy I have weighed it. The last few times my results were 25-35 pounds!!! I am only 5-1 and weigh 100 and 25-35 pounds on my back is not good!! What can i do to get through to the teacher so the kids comming into 8th grade next week will not have to suffer!_!

Hey, my name is Peter and I'm 14 with too much homework. My bag isn't that heavy from work but I just photo copy the pages for homework instead of bring home large text books everyday. My teacher thinks really demented. He pushes so much work in so little time that lessons are like 20 minutes and he rushes everything. Plus he said that it will be worth it cause he saved up time at the end of the year, THREE weeks just to have fun. Yeah maybe one or two afternoons with no work would be great but THREE weeks of work rushed into everything is just not normal.

I think that it's fair!!!I even have homework on the Memorial weekend!

I am 15 and also think that teacher's give to much homework. my backpack weights 23 lbs. and i don't bring my books to school either. i think this is a terrible part on the school administraters part i think the amount of homework we obtain everynight is painstalkingly hard on our everyday lives i hardly ever find time to play with my friends or sociolize with my friends after school

I agree teachers give to much homework. My backpack weighs 24 lbs. I'm in 8th grade and i can see the good for some homework. but when you get home at 3:30 p.m. and work on homework till 12:20 every night that is to much. We need a live to.

I am 13 and get about 2 and a half hours of h/wk a night. I do not get enough sleep at night and my weekends are full of homework so I can't go out. My tutor does not listen to what my mom says when she spoke to him. We do get far to much homework.

Yeah i totlay agree i am tiffany and im 11 once i got home from school i had a back pack filled with 5 text books and a few smaller books an once i got the chance to take it off i did my back was so sore i could hardly stand it and i am only going into the 6th grade i woner how much homework i will get then.

My high school has a college-like policy-- and college like work levels. Many of my friends get home at 3, and work 'till 2 in the morning. 4 textbooks, two novels, a binder, and waaaaay too many papers. I don't know how much my backpack wieghs-- but it's too much

u people r retarded. if u think ur backpack weighs too much, mine weighs 46 pounds. im 15 in 9th grade. if u think u got too much homework, ur too stupid to do it right.

I agree with you completely. I just finished the sixth grade and I received more homework in one night then all the other kids in other classes received in one week. The stress (and the weight) on my back has been unbearable. What's worse, I have them next year as well. They move up to 7th grade. To try to convice my teacher that too much homework is bad for your health, I am writing an essay. That's how I came across this site.

Please Your backpack is heavy think of it in like two years im in 5th geade and getting ready for sixth in a couple of months and also my backpack is soo heavy everynight well most of the nites i take home like 3 text books ahh help me no more skool please!!!

oh my god! we hardly get any homework.. we're ninth graders and in ALL honors classes!!!and we have about 30 minutes a night, maybe if you buckled down and worked IN class you wouldn't have so homework.

I used to get no homework but now I'm in 7th grade and OH MY GOSH too much homework, I'm starting to write an essay for my school on how my school should get study hall and no homework, I mean my backpack weighs around 35 pounds and why do we need homework if we have been tortured enough in school for 6 or 7 hours, when we get home we SHOULD relax and go on the computer or whatever and enjoy the rest of the day, not worry about any homework or projects and let our child hood drift away
